An Osmann Murad fan?

An Osmann Murad fan? Put his photograph as your wallpaper right now or take a print out and pin it up at your work station. Or dream of buying Harley Davidson one day? Do the same, wallpaper it or pin it up.

Surrounding yourself with what you like makes you feel more at home at your workstation. Put some celebration paraphernalia or deck it up with minions if they are what keeps you in your best spirits.

Do not let them make you feel burdened....

We have an over-indulgent behaviour of creating numerous new folders on the desktop and pasting everything at the already claustrophobic space for easy accessibility. We also consistently press ‘Open in new tab’ to all the potential options that get reflected in our searches. And we may have one, two, three, four, accounts logged on in Gmail while we may just need one of them at the moment.

Today, make sure that you declutter your desktop by deleting all that is no more needed. Also make it a point to close all the extra tabs that are open in your system. Uselessly hanging tabs induce the feeling of unfinished tasks lined up for your perusal. Do not let them make you feel burdened.

Monthly plan for a fitter you

A mental picture of our dream body always stays with us, no matter where we are. Chasing this image of a perfect body and physique, almost every one of us wants to lose weight; many yearn to put on extra pounds but it is only a few of us who realize the importance of staying fit. This is a process that takes both time and effort. So, here is a follow-up sequence plan for the year 2017 that will help you transform into a better version of yourself:

This may take time as you are still in a festive mood, but you need to know your body. Just like the fuels that we put in our cars, our body also deserves the best. If you have not been keeping a tab on what you’ve been feeding yourself, this is the time to begin. Start by making a food journal. This will help you track your eating habits and what you have been missing out on. Stick a fresh portrait of yourself on the first page. Secondly, you need to download two apps, water and activity tracker. Since everything is available on our fingertips now, evaluating yourself will not be a difficult task.

Now that we have an inside picture in hand, the next step is to include antioxidants in our diet. Following the 3:4 ratio is easy and will help you stick to your 4-5 meal plan. This approach requires you to have 4 colours of fruits, for example, papaya, watermelon, pears and oranges along with 3 colours of vegetables, for example, aubergine, okra and pumpkin. More colours in your diet means more antioxidants, which help as an anti-ageing agent and good immunity. Replace two snack times with fruits and veggies salad.

No diet, meal, food plan can help you if you do not move. The science of calorie in and calorie out is important to understand if you wish to be fit. Calories in means the food and liquid you consume and calories out means calories that you burn through exercises, sleeping, sitting or any activity that you do in a day.
This month our goal should be to achieve 10,000 steps in a day. Your activity tracker will help you keep a check on this, so this step should not be hard. Take the stairs, even if you are on the first floor, take a 10 minute walk after your meals, go to the market walking and if it’s a rainy day, walk up and down the stairs!

Our body is made up of cells that regenerate every 90 days. However, if we do not have good nutrition, then this process gradually makes us prone to illness. Now that we have a checklist of foods we are eating, make this month about detox water and drinks.
For food nutrition to reach every cell, our body requires water. Sipping on detox teas and water will not only be different from the usual but also make being fit a fun process. Start by adding cinnamon sticks, cut apples in your water or cucumbers and slices of lemon. Similarly for teas, you can add ginger and lemon to your green tea and sip on it twice a day.

This is an important step towards a healthy and fitter you. No healing process can take place if you do not get a proper sleep of minimum 7 hours in a day. While there is little we can do about our work schedule, we can ensure adequate sleep. Exercise, food and water are huge contributors to a good night’s sleep. Resting time is repairing time and let it happen to your body so you wake up with a fresh energy.
A walk before you sleep, a glass of warm milk and a light dinner two hours before bedtime are some factors that will lead to a comfortable sleep. Keeping yourself well-hydrated also helps to avoid getting up with dry eyes.

We have monitored water, food and sleep, and now to complement these better for wholesome fitness, flexibility and strength are required to graduate to the next level. Flexibility and strength will help in increasing blood flow in the body. Joining yoga and Pilates for flexibility, doing weight training and core based exercises for strength will help you do other forms of exercise better.
Strength exercises will increase the efficiency of oxygen used by your muscles. Not only will these increase your muscle endurance but they help in injury prevention as well. Flexibility on the other hand, will help you reduce stress in your muscles during exercise and improve performance of everyday activities.

It is important to assess if we are going in the right direction or not. The best way to re-evaluate yourself is buying and trying those clothes that weren’t fitting you about six months ago.
Remember that inch loss is faster than weight loss in most cases. However, if weight loss is not your goal, then

Enough of lazying around in the house, doing yoga indoors and being stuck to your office and home. You need to get out and get some fresh air. Choose your favourite outdoor activity, like jogging, walks or any outdoor sport. This will help you feel fresh and at the same time de-stress.
Outdoor activities in a combination with the ones above will help you understand your body’s limit. However, avoid taking your mobile phone with you when you’re involved in an outdoor activity.
As Indians, we have grown up eating food after 8 pm when the whole family is at the dinner table. Research shows that those who eat dinner late, wake up groggy and feeling bloated in the morning.
September will require you to eat dinner by 7 pm to prep properly for the coming wedding and festive season. Dinner at 7 pm means either soups and salads or multigrain rotis with dal and subzi. This will help you in getting peaceful sleep along with an improved digestion.

Now that we have Diwali, Rakhi, Durga puja, the entire Indian festive season right across the corner, this month will require extra effort from our side. Since this month is high on Indian specialties of sweets and savory items, we need to push ourselves in order to not break our fitness cycle, which we started 9 months ago. Treat your fitness journey like your baby, don’t play with it that it gets hurt and breaks!
Lunch during this time should be light. Keep your breakfast and lunch loaded with proteins like chicken, amaranth and paneer. Proteins will help curb those unnecessary cravings that you will be exposed to in the numerous parties that you will be invited to.

We are heading towards chilly months and we need to keep ourselves warmed up for the next set of months. A handful of dry fruits and nuts like almonds and walnuts should be consumed twice: once as a snack and once before going off to sleep. Dry fruits and nuts will help increase metabolism and keep your body warm. You can also add dry fruits to your fruit and vegetable salads to add an extra crunch to your meal.

It may get foggy and really cold outside. It may still be night when you wake up at 6 in the morning to exercise. This is the best time to learn those indoor exercises and make the most of it. You can try adding floor exercises, suryanamaskars, dance, and aerobics to your exercise routine.
These will help you stay active as metabolism tends to slow down during winters. Since this is the last month of your fitness year, you need to evaluate yourself once again in December.

1. Any practice takes 21 days to make it a habit.
2. Do not forget to consult your doctor/ fitness consultant before starting this year long journey.
3. Do not forget, these are steps to be added each month to your schedule. Do not follow them individually.
4. Too much or very less of anything is bad, so follow proper amounts, and do not overdo it.
5. Build your support system. Someone who keeps check on you, will surely be of big help.

We bury the hatchet and agree that we have all had it pretty hard in 2016. We lost the best of artists this year and have been made penniless by an unmistakable ten second declaration. 2016 was rough on us but that doesn’t drown our spirits.

We are starting the New Year with a butt load of newbies. Adding to your list of 2017 upgradations, we bring to you 10 ways you can detoxify yourself using green tea. 2016 has left us pretty shaken but let’s get over the hangover and de-stress over a cup (or scoop?) of green tea. Here’s how we are making it to a tastier 2017.

This is a super healthy combination as it combines the goodness of chia seeds with green tea. Brew a cup of green tea and let it cool down. Add one tablespoon of chia seeds for ten minutes or till they thicken consistently. Add honey to taste and have it refreshing.

This is how you can add some fragrant flavour to your green tea. Take 1 tablespoon of dried lavender, a lavender sprig if available, 1 tablespoon dried lemongrass, and 2 bags of green tea (or 2 tablespoon of green tea leaves). Brew your green tea and add into it the dried lavender. Strain it into a bowl after five minutes and let it cool down. Afterwards, pour it into a glass full of ice and add the sprigs for a better presentation.

For this concoction, take 150 ml of apple juice, 100 ml water, a few cinnamon sticks and 2 green tea bags. Boil the water with the cinnamon sticks and brew the green tea. Let the water cool down for abut fifteen minutes. Strain the tea and mix it with the apple juice. Have it chilled.

This recipe is an aromatic variation that uses dried green tea petals to enhance the tea’s aroma. Take 1 tablespoon of dried rose petals or 2 to 3 dried rose buds and a green tea bag (or 1 tablespoon of green tea leaves). Add a cup of boiling water on dried petals and green tea bag and let it steep for 10 minutes. Strain it. Have it warm or freeze to have it chilled.

Here, you will need matcha green tea. Take half a teaspoon of matcha powder, 1 tablespoon of hot water, 1 cup milk, and sugar to taste. Mix the matcha powder in the water and whisk it till it forms a smooth dark green paste. Heat the milk and sugar and froth it till it is foamy. Now, mix the matcha paste with the heated milk. Have it hot. You can top it with sweetened whipped cream.

Everyone Should Dump Email And Use Couriers Instead: donald Trump

As Barack Obama began preparing to leave office, the first smartphone-toting U.S. president ordered his team to upgrade the White House's aging technology for his successor. New computers were purchased and faster internet was installed.

Not included in the modernization plans? A courier service.

But that delivery method of a bygone era may be in for a comeback under Donald Trump. Despite his voracious use of Twitter, the president-elect appears to be leaning toward old tech to ensure the security of sensitive messages.

"It's very important, if you have something really important, write it out and have it delivered by courier, the old-fashioned way because I'll tell you what, no computer is safe,'' Trump told reporters Saturday in response to questions about Russia's alleged hacking of Democrats during the presidential election. Trump, who doesn't email or surf the internet, said days earlier that computers "have complicated lives very greatly.''

Trump's skepticism of some technology marks a sharp contrast from the president he'll replace on Jan. 20. Obama, who was a youthful 47 years old when he took office, carries a specially outfitted Blackberry, emails with a small number of friends and aides, and has received some of his daily security briefings on an iPad. He celebrated technological innovations at an annual science fair, created the job of chief technology officer in the White House and viewed technology as key to making the sprawling federal government more efficient and responsive to the public.

A much less frequent Twitter user than Trump, Obama let loose Sunday with a volley of tweets highlighting some of his accomplishments as president: boosting clean energy, bringing troops home, delivering "the longest streak of job growth in our history,'' passing a law to make health care affordable, reducing dependence on foreign oil and working "to reaffirm that all are created equal.''

But technology has also been a burden for Obama. Online sign-ups for his health care law were crippled by massive technical issues, resulting in one of the most embarrassing episodes of his presidency. National Security Agency contractor Edward Snowden stole classified information that he leaked to journalists, revealing the Obama administration's bulk collection of millions of Americans' phone records, as well as U.S. spying on some friendly foreign leaders.

Trump rarely uses computers, Internet

Trump, 70, rarely uses a computer and sifts through stacks of newspapers, magazines and printed articles to read the news. He panned candidates' reliance on data and technology in presidential campaigns, preferring to make decisions in part based on the reaction from audiences at his rallies. While Trump's tweetstorms are already legendary, he utters some of his messages out loud and leaves the actual typing to aides.

Incoming White House press secretary Sean Spicer said he expects Trump to continue using Twitter and other social media sites as president, casting it as an effective way to communicate with Americans.

Absolutely, you're going to see Twitter,'' Spicer said Sunday on ABC's "This Week.'' ''I think it freaks the mainstream media out — that he has this following of 45-plus million people that follow him on social media" and he ''can have a direct conversation" with them.

Trump has shown some interest in technology since winning the White House. Billionaire tech investor Peter Thiel has been working with Trump's transition team and could serve as an adviser to the administration. Trump met with several Silicon Valley executives last month, telling them his administration was "here to help you folks do well.''

Trump heads into the White House, some of the biggest questions surrounding his relationship with technology will involve security. U.S. intelligence agencies say Russia hacked the Democratic National Committee and a top aide to Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton during the election, exposing the vulnerabilities of systems in Washington. Revelations that Clinton used a personal email and private internet server during her four years as Obama's secretary of state highlighted the lax practices that exist in government.

As a candidate, Trump called for an immediate review of U.S. cyber defences and vulnerabilities, though he has not detailed specific steps he plans to take to bolster cybersecurity and has not publicly accepted the intelligence community's conclusion that Russia was behind the election year hacking. Nor has Trump outlined any changes in the way he expects the White House to use technology for day-to-day work.

If Russia wants information, 'no computer' is safe

Bruce Schneier, a technology security expert, said Trump was right to question the safeguards that exist for protecting his own communications as president.

"If the Russian spies want to get at his data, no computer is probably safe,'' said Schneier, a fellow at Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government. "Everything is vulnerable.''

Of course, the courier system Trump suggests is hardly foolproof, either. After the U.S. killed 9-11 mastermind Osama bin Laden, administration officials said they had gleaned crucial information on his whereabouts by tracking the al-Qaida leader's courier.

Bengaluru molestation: I was groped, saw girls crying...

My friends and I had made plans for New Year's Eve. I had imagined an evening of fun and relaxation. But it was such a nightmare that it has left me scarred. My friends tried to protect me, but it happened nevertheless. I was so angry, I could have attacked the person who did this, but it was not one person. It was a mob.

My friends and I went to MG Road at 8 pm and after a walk decided to relax at a pub. At that time, the crowd was normal and everything looked cheerful. By 11 pm, we left the pub to head back home. By now, the road was packed with people. We started walking towards the Metro station. One side of the road was barricaded. Some people asked us not to go to that side as something bad had happened with some girls there. Before I could respond, we were pushed by a crowd and my friends began surrounding me to protect me from all four sides. In spite of this, I was groped.

It was impossible to catch one person in that moving crowd. There were a number of girls there who were in a similar situation. I saw a few of them crying and running for help. It seemed futile. The police were vastly outnumbered - like 20-25 to 1. There was no cheer; women were either worried or scared. It really was mass molestation. I wish the police had managed the situation better.
I request the police to please be prepared for such situations in future. If you can get CCTV images, catch these men and get justice for women like me who went through such trauma.

I'm just a regular girl who wanted to celebrate the New Year with my friends, just like all the men there. They told me girls should not go to such places. So will it never be safe for us?
I agreed to reveal my identity because I believe I have done no wrong. I felt terrible and thought how could someone just touch me like a public property and walk away? I was shocked that there were no reports anywhere. Does it have to be a rape before someone takes notice?

This is why I decided to speak out. I wish every girl who was violated there, speaks out.
Manisha Gupta, a 25-year-old IT professional, was walking towards the MG Road Metro station on New Year's Eve. She approached Mirror and went on record as cops aren't ready to believe anything.
